Gemma is a mixed German Shepard pup down on her luck. At no fault of her own, Gemma was returned to SCARS because her adoptive family could no longer care for her. At only two years old, Gemma is obese. She is currently on a strict diet plan to help her get back to feeling her best, but having a confident male dog to play with will help speed up her weight loss journey. Gemma will need a patient caregiver who can help her build her confidence and support her health journey with an active lifestyle. Gemma walks nicely on leash and has excellent manners. She can be a bit vocal and has some frustration to barriers like fences, but has not displayed the same reactivity on leash. She is very sweet and loves cuddling up to her people. She would be a great adventure buddy and a loyal family dog.
