Hi, I'm Maple. You may have read my story in December. I was the mom who dug a shelter for my puppies, scavenged for food and was finally rescued by the caring humans from SCARs. When they realized that I was nursing puppies, they rushed back to the landfill where I was living and were able to rescue my babies. These puppies were known as "The Breakfast Crew. It took a while, but I was able to get placed in a foster home finally. I was very shut down and withdrawn, scared of humans and any fast movements towards me.

My foster mom was patient and slowly made me feel safe, and warm and showed that I never had to worry about food again. I began to open up and play with my two foster brother dogs and be comfortable with my foster cat siblings as well. As I am opening up, I'm showing my playful and goofy side. I am very smart and love to eat treats and play in the snow. I am still hesitant about new people and would do best in a home with older children. I am still working on going in my crate, but I spend the night on my dog bed or blankets, those are my safe places. My foster mom is starting to teach me how to sit and I am loving learning new things. I would do best in a home with a male dog to help me build my confidence. If you are looking for a smart girl who thrives on patience and love, I am your girl
