Hi, my name is Franny! I'm a three-year-old Shepherd mix with a beautiful fawn-colored coat and adorable hooded ears. I love exploring the world with my best friend at SCARS, his name is Buggy. I'd do best in a home with a confident male dog who can help show me that people are kind and that new experiences aren't so scary. I've come a long way since I first arrived at SCARS. Back then, I was too frightened to let anyone pet me. Watching Buggy trust people helped me find the courage to do the same. Now, one of my favorite things is snuggling right under my favorite person's arm. I'm still building my confidence every day. The staff at SCARS believe I may not have had much positive socialization with people, or that I may have experienced things in my past that left me fearful. Because of that, I'm especially sensitive about anything around my neck, including having a collar put on. Once my collar and leash are on, though, I've been enjoying short walks to help me become more comfortable. Having Buggy by my side makes me feel much braver, and it helps even more when we take little breaks so I can sit close to you and soak up some reassurance. I'm house-trained and will let you know when I need to go outside with a few quick barks. One thing to know about me is that I sometimes dig, especially when I'm feeling anxious. The staff think it's a fear response, and with patience, understanding, and a secure environment, it's something I'm continuing to work on. What I need most is a family willing to give me the time and compassion to continue growing into my best self. I may not be the dog who runs up to greet strangers, but if you have the patience to earn my trust, you'll discover a gentle, affectionate, and incredibly loyal companion. Every small step forward is a huge victory for me, and there's nothing more rewarding than watching a once-frightened dog learn to feel safe, loved, and at home.
