Meet Maggie! This sweet girl came into our care a little over two years ago and has been the biggest love bug since! Throughout the years, Maggie has become a staff favorite thanks to her bubbly personality and genuine belief that she is a lap dog. Although she is on the smaller size stature wise, Ms. Girl has got some junk in the trunk that she is very proud of! As an approx 80lb girl, we would recommend a home with older kids (10+) as she has been known to take people out at the knees. Cats and female dogs are a hard no-go for Maggie, she has been known to make the occasional friend with a calm male dog when introduced properly but it is highly recommended to take time and fully understand Maggie and her triggers before trying to introduce her to new friends. Because of how particular Maggie is with her furry friends, a dog park is a definite no which means she will need a big fully fenced backyard to zoom around! And don't let her figure fool you, Maggie can bolt around a yard before you have time to turn around and watch if she's in zoomie mode, although give it 30 minutes and she be back on the couch waiting for you to turn on Netflix and get her a snack. Maggie is fully crate trained and doesn't mind it as long as she is given appropriate breaks in between, it is highly recommended to crate Maggie for the first few weeks when leaving her until you can trust her to be left alone without rearranging your furniture's stuffing! Speaking of, Maggie can be quite the chewer sometimes and we have found that she LOVES to de-squeaker rubber pigs from the dollar store! Although she has her quirks and limitations, Maggie truly is one of the sweetest dogs we have at the shelter and deserves to retire in a warm loving home all to herself!
