Hi, My name is Barbie, and I am a loving, sweet, and adventurous girl looking for my forever family. I was rescued by SCARS in 2023, but somehow I'm still waiting for my happily ever after. After spending 1,028 days in a shelter environment, I recently moved into a foster home, and I am absolutely thriving! My foster mom says I am doing amazing. I have never barked once, my jumping has improved tremendously, and I have worked so hard on my leash skills. I no longer need a head collar and now walk beautifully on a front-clip harness, and I'm getting better and better on a flat collar every day. I love learning, am eager to please, and always try my best. I am learning more every day. One of my favourite things in the world is swimming! I adore splashing around in rivers, exploring new places, and going on adventures. If you're looking for an adventure buddy, I'm your girl. I am wonderful in the car, load myself up when asked, and happily relax in my kennel during the ride. I also have outstanding recall skills and come running when I'm called. While I wear a GPS collar when swimming off-leash, I've never had any issues coming back when called. I'm fully house-trained and kennel-trained and have been doing wonderfully living in my foster mom's condo while enjoying 90–200 minutes of walking each day. Because of this, I would likely do well in many different types of homes. I do need at least 60 minutes of exercise daily, but that just means we'll have lots of opportunities to explore together, stay active, hit our step goals, and make great memories. I can be selective with other dogs, so my ideal home would be as your one-and-only pup or possibly with a well-matched male dog after careful introductions. On walks, I've been making huge progress. When my foster mom asks me to sit and watch other dogs pass, I show off my excellent manners and stay focused on her. I have met children of all ages and abilities and have done wonderfully with them. Now that my jumping is so much better, everyone can enjoy giving me pets and admiring my beautiful, soft dark-brown coat. I have also been to the library, to the Special Olympics track and field practice and shopping at Winners. I have done awesome at all those places and am great at meeting all people. I do need a cat-free home, and I sometimes get excited by bunnies and squirrels, but I redirect easily and continue to improve every day. I recently had a bath and brushing session with my foster mom and was calm, cooperative, and sweet throughout. I really am a smart girl with so much love to give. Most importantly, I am incredibly deserving of a family, couple, or individual of my own who will continue to help me learn, grow, and share all the love I have to offer. 💜 As a bonus, my adoption fee has been generously sponsored by Julie! I've waited a very long time for my forever home and am so deserving. Could you be the person I've been dreaming of? Lots of love, Barbie 🐾
