Hi. My name is Blinky. Yes, Blinky. No, I did not name myself, but honestly I think it suits me! I’m a 10-month-old border collie mix, which means I am very smart, very sweet, and sometimes briefly convinced I am the main character. A little while ago, I got hit by a car and I broke both my femurs and one tibia. I’ve been working very hard at healing like a responsible little athlete, and I just had x-rays that confirmed I’m all better now thanks to SCARS. My doctor says I can start off-leash play in about 3–4 weeks (just enough time for me to perfect my recall), but in the meantime I’m totally good for long walks and gentle introductions to more furry friends. I’m still figuring out the whole “dog social life” thing since I haven’t had a ton of time around other dogs due to my healing. I’d like to think I’d make a great friend once I get some practice introducing myself politely. I do live with a cat right now and sometimes I like to follow, sniff, and play with him to the point I may annoy him but we never fight and get along great (at least I think so). I know all the important life skills already: sit, stay, down, and shake a paw (with both paws, not to brag). I walk pretty nicely on leash, especially if you have treats, because I am very motivated by snacks, love and approval. I go into my crate without drama when asked. I'm pretty easy going, I'll indulge in zoomies at play time, entertain myself with my stuffed dinosaur and take a professional nap all in one day. I'm versatile like that. I've been loving car rides where I can stick my head out the window and experience the wind like a dramatic little philosopher. I’m still young, still healing, and still learning, but I have a lot of love to give. If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate, slightly silly companion who will absolutely try to become your lap dog even if I’m too big for it… I might be your guy. I can't wait to meet you. Love Blinky Note: I’m not quite available for adoption yet, but I am booked for my neuter on June 22nd and after that I will be ready for my furever home

Please note: If other cats/dogs in your home are not spayed/neutered, we may deny your application. SCARS exists due to lack of spaying/neutering and it is our goal to end this cycle. If there is a documented medical reason for your animal to not be spayed/neutered, we will work with you.
