Hello, my name is Cookie. I came into care with my siblings and over 20 other cats after having been abandoned on a farm property when our owners moved. While some of us had clearly been pets, my siblings and I were raised without much contact with people, so living in a home with them has been a big adjustment. I was the first of my family to start warming up to our new people and quickly learned to like getting treats and pets. I’m still a nervous girl and will often skitter away when people get close, but I’m learning to be calmer. I’m not currently what you’d call a regular house cat, but with time and the right home I could see myself becoming a happy lap kitty. I really like treats, pets in my favorite sunbeam, and playing with toys. Since I’m still such a scaredy cat, I require a special home with no kids, big/loud dogs, or a lot of activity. What I really need is a calm, quiet, 1-2 person home that has a steady routine I can rely on. It would also be a big help to have a confident, friendly resident cat in the house to show me that there’s nothing to be scared of. My new family will need to be understanding of my nerves and want to slowly work with me to overcome them. With time, patience, and the right people, my foster home has every confidence that I’ll quickly blossom into a sweet, confident kitty that loves to engage with my family.
