🐾 Meet Dusty — A Little Cat with a Big Story to Tell 💕🐾 When Dusty first came into foster care, she was a semi-feral little girl who wasn’t sure if people could be trusted. In fact, for the first two weeks in our home, we barely saw her at all. She found a safe hiding place and stayed there, watching and learning from a distance. But then came the little victories. ❤️ A peek around the corner. A few steps closer. A moment of bravery. A little more trust. It took about two months of patience, consistency and tiny steps before Dusty finally began to come out of her shell. And watching that transformation has been incredibly rewarding. Today, Dusty comes up to us for attention and has become a wonderfully affectionate, very talkative little girl. She is a chirper who seems to have endless stories to tell! 😻 She has the softest fur we have ever felt, with gorgeous pastel tabby colouring that makes her absolutely beautiful. Dusty loves her breakfast and supper — and she will happily let you know when it's time! 😂 She is also very playful and enjoys her cat toys, loves perching in a window and watching the world go by, and enjoys simply hanging out with us while we're sitting nearby. And then there are the things that make Dusty… well, Dusty. 💕 💧 She is very curious about water. 📦 She LOVES boxes. 🪟 She loves a good window perch. 🐾 She uses her litter box like a pro. 😸 She gets along beautifully with our resident cat and the other foster cats and kittens in the house. Most importantly, Dusty has learned that she is safe. She still needs a secure place she can call her own. In our home, that special place is her cozy spot under the basement stairs. It is her retreat — somewhere she can go when the world feels like a little too much. Dusty can still be startled by sudden movements or unexpected sounds. When people come to our house, she will retreat to her safe place and patiently wait until the visitors leave. She is confident and comfortable with us and our resident cat, but new people and new situations will take time. For that reason, Dusty is looking for a quiet, patient and understanding home where she can continue to build her confidence at her own pace. 🏡 Dusty's ideal home: • A quiet, calm household • Someone who understands that trust takes time • A safe room or secure hiding place that is always hers • No young children • No dogs • A home where she won't be rushed or pushed beyond her comfort level • A home where she can take her time settling in • Another friendly, respectful cat could be a wonderful companion Dusty isn't the cat who will necessarily run up to a stranger and demand to be picked up on day one. She's the cat who will watch you, learn you, trust you… and then one day walk up beside you and ask for attention. 🥹❤️ And when that happens, it feels incredibly special. Dusty has already come so far. From a frightened little girl hiding under the stairs to a chirpy, playful, affectionate cat who confidently hangs out with her people — her progress has been measured in tiny steps, but those tiny steps have taken her a very long way. Now she's ready for the next chapter of her story. She doesn't need someone to "fix" her. She just needs someone willing to give her the time, patience and safe space to become the wonderful cat she was always meant to be. ❤️🐾 Dusty is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, litter trained and ready to find her forever home.
