Hi! I’m Emerance Maschmeyer (named after Team Canada’s incredible goalie Emerance Maschmeyer), but you can call me Emmy. I’m about 7 months old and extremely cute, I was rescued by SCARS after being found living outside in a rural area with my two siblings (who also have cool hockey player names). When I first moved into my foster home in Edmonton, I was scared, skinny, and unsure; it was a big change for me. With patience, kindness, a cozy dog bed to rest, three meals a day, and lots of trust-building, I’ve been growing more confident every single day. Now I’m a calm, sweet, cuddly girl who loves affection. I can be a little shy at first, but I warm up quickly and happily lean in for pets. I also love to cuddle in with my foster mom to watch the Olympics (I am eagerly awaiting the Paralympics to start) I even go to work with my foster mom at a long-term care home, where I’ve become the calmest little office dog and have done wonderfully meeting residents. My Training Wins: - I am house trained (I only potty outside!) - I am kennel trained and relax quietly (especially with a Kong or chew stick) - I walk beautifully on a leash - I know: sit, lie down, shake (both paws!), high five, wave, and crawl, and I'm working on wait and come, which are going well! - I sit and wait politely at doors to go outside and inside - I am calm and gentle with cats - I let my foster mom bathe me and clip my nails like a pro I’m a mixed-breed dog (likely with some shepherd in me but much smaller than most shepherds my age), but what matters most is that I’m gentle, eager to learn, and ready to keep blossoming. I’m doing amazing in my foster mom’s condo, so I could thrive in many types of homes. I would love a family who will continue building my confidence, teaching me fun new things, and giving me lots of love; and in return, I promise to love you even more.
