Hello world, I'm Edler! I was really scared and shut down in the shelter, and it took 3 weeks of my foster pawrent pulling out all the stops to convince me that I was in a safe place. But once that lightbulb went on--WOW, I became a completely different cat! I'm a sweet, affectionate, playful guy, and I'm getting braver every day. Treats are great--they helped earn my trust--but what I really go crazy for is affection...did someone say CUDDLES? My love language is putting my paws around your neck and smushing my face against yours so I can convince you to never, ever let me go. Lately I've been loving catnip toys and little plastic springs. I can scoot around for hours happily chasing my springs, and I have a really cute habit of "talking" to myself while I play! My ideal home would be calm, with patient humans willing to help me work past my fears--I may start out shy in a new place, but my foster parent has all the tips you need to unlock my heart. Once I know I have a safe and trustworthy human to depend upon, my confidence grows quickly and my personality blossoms. I would not be the best fit for a home with young kids--although I throw myself into cuddles, I can sometimes get overstimulated, or forget that you're not another cat I can give love bites to. I need humans who can watch for my cues and calmly but firmly tell me "no" and redirect me. I would likely thrive with another friendly, playful cat. (Key word: friendly. If other cats are mean to me, I will not roll over and take it!)
