Meet Brownie 🐾 Brownie is a 5-year-old shepherd mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart for the right person. He’s been living at a northern pound since the summer, so much of his past is unknown, but it’s likely that Brownie has experienced some trauma along the way. Despite this, he’s been making steady progress and showing just how much potential he has. Brownie prefers his personal space and isn’t a fan of other dogs, especially when they get too close. Because of this, we strongly recommend Brownie as a solo dog in the home. Given his reactivity toward dogs, we also believe he would not do well in a home with cats or other animals. He’s currently learning the ropes of leash walking and improving every day. While he still tends to weave side to side and underfoot, his progress shows that with patience and consistency, he’s very capable of learning. Brownie is highly food-motivated, which makes training with treats a great tool—he’ll happily work for snacks as long as training remains consistent and positive. Brownie is looking for a calm, understanding home with someone who can give him time, structure, and plenty of love. In return, he’ll reward you with loyalty, character, and a one-of-a-kind companion who just wants to feel safe and understood.
