Hi, I’m Winnie! A couple of weeks ago, life got a little tough for me. Some very kind people from SCARS found me and brought me to the emergency vet. When I woke up, I learned that my right hind leg had been removed to save my life. My left hind leg wasn’t feeling great either, but luckily, I got to keep it. I’m still healing and not quite ready for adoption just yet—I’ve got some important recovery and bone healing to do—but I’ll be available very soon! Right now, I’m living in a wonderful foster home with two foster dog sisters and something they call a cat. She’s small, she’s interesting, and I like her—even though she doesn’t play the same way my dog sisters do. I’ve also discovered something amazing: carrots! They are my new favorite treat. I get a yummy stuffed Kong every day, too. I’m doing pretty well in my crate when everyone is home, though sometimes I get a bit whiny when the family is up and about and I have to keep resting. At night, though? I sleep like a total champion. I’ve become pretty good at telling my foster parents when I need to go outside. They still carry me because I’m not quite strong enough for stairs, but I’m practicing on a ramp and getting better all the time. I absolutely adore my foster family, but I’m starting my search for my furever home. I’m a faithful, energetic, sweet, and cuddly pup. I may be light on one foot, but I’m full of love—and I’m confident I’ll bring so much joy, laughter, and snuggles to the family who chooses me.
