Hi, my friends call me SHAYNA. I’ve had a pretty tough start to life, and I’m still learning that the world can be a safe and kind place. Because of my past, I really value consistency, patience, and gentle humans who let me build trust at my own pace. Once I feel safe, I am incredibly affectionate and love to cuddle. I bond strongly with my people and truly want nothing more than to belong to someone who will give me stability, routine, and lots of love. I’m not very keen on sharing my space with other dogs, so I would do best as the only dog in the home. I would also do best in a home without young children, where things are calm and predictable. I’m crate trained and very comfortable in my crate — it’s my safe space. I sleep well in it overnight or when you’re out, and I also enjoy having a quiet room where I can relax and decompress when I need alone time. I’m very food motivated and eager to learn! I haven’t learned a tons of commands, but I do know how to sit nicely and I’ve got great manners. With positive reinforcement and consistency, I have so much potential to grow and gain confidence. I don’t have a sensitive stomach and I’m always excited for treats. I do especially well with women, and with men I just need slow, respectful introductions and time to build trust. I haven’t been tested with cats, but I’ve done well meeting chickens calmly on leash with guidance. What I’m really looking for is a patient, experienced home that understands I’ve had a hard life and need time to feel secure. In return, I will give you loyalty, affection, and a very special bond.
