Hello, my name is Pocket and I'm the bravest, sweetest, shy dog you will ever meet. I had a rough start in life which means I didn't really get to experience a lot of the world until I came into SCARS care so everything is new to me. I am great with other dogs, and would love to have a calm confident dog friend in my new home to show me the ropes and help me be brave in the world. I am also totally neutral around cats so I can easily live with them. I do get nervous when I hear the neighborhood dogs barking so my new home will need a dog friend who tends to be on the quiet side. I will need a patient family willing to work with me to show me how great life can be in a safe home. My foster family has discovered how much I love going to off leash areas, even though the walk or drive to get there is still really hard for me. Once I get there I run so fast! They have an off leash rink and I just love it and I also love the bigger off leash parks with the big fields where I get to run with the long leash on! I'm even getting really good at sticking close and coming back when they call me. Once you show me you are my safe person, I will be loyal to you and stay close to you when we are out. For this reason, foster mom thinks I would do great in an acreage or farm, because once I know where home is, I stay close to it. I've been living in the city and do ok here too, I'll just need a bit more patience to navigate leash walking with extra distractions. I also LOVE playing in the water, the river is SO FUN! Here's why foster mom says I'm so brave: thunder... no big deal, garbage trucks... weird, but also very curious! When I hear a new sound, my ears perk up and my head tilts so I can concentrate and figure out what it is. I love my dog bed and it is my safe space in the house. I don't need to be in a crate, I don't get into mischief and stay in my bed most of the time. I have started to be brave enough to come visit the rest of the house, and foster mom and dad are so proud of me when I do, I can tell because I dash up the stairs and wag my tail and they tell me I'm so brave!
