Lew: Hi, I’m Lew! I’m a ten month old Great Dane Mix. I have a big personality and I’d love to share it with you. I’ve recently come back into SCARS’ care because my previous home and I were not the best match. I have training class experience, but nothing really stuck because I wasn’t having the skills I learned from class practiced consistently. In order for me to be my best self, I’ll need consistency and strong boundaries from my family. I’ve already grown so much while I’ve been back at SCARS, I’ve been leash- and crate-trained, and I’ve made tons of progress with my impulse control. I’m a high-energy boy, I love chasing after tennis balls and going for walks. My ideal family would be very active. I’d love for us to go on hiking, camping, and swimming adventures, but as long as I’m getting enough exercise, I’ll be a happy boy. I’m a big boy, too. When I stand up I’m six feet tall! Since I’m so big and still in training, it would be best for me to have all of your attention so I’m not a good fit for a family with young children. Currently, my biggest areas of improvement are learning my manners (no jumping), resource guarding (food), and walking nicely on a leash for anyone who is with me (I walk nicely for only some people right now). I may need some training, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a boy who’ll love you more than I do! If you have large dog experience and lots of patience, I’d love to join your family!
