Meet Poncho!

Hi there — I’m Poncho, and I’m so glad you stopped by to learn about me!

First things first: check out these ears. I know, right? They’re like little satellite dishes ready to pick up signals from Mars! I might grow into them someday, but for now they’re extra adorable. Go ahead — you know you want to touch them.

I have a bit of a hip injury that makes me walk a little funny, but it doesn’t slow me down! I run, play, and do all the normal dog things. If I overdo it, I take a bit of medicine to help with any soreness. I’m looking for a special family who can foster to adopt — helping me grow big and strong so that, when I’m ready, I can have surgery to fix my hip. It sounds scary, but it’s really not: a little crate rest, some physio, and I’ll be back to my goofy self in no time.

I’m still a puppy with lots to learn. My foster humans are teaching me that cats aren’t for chasing or chewing, and that people, couches, and shoes are off-limits too. I’m learning fast (especially when treats are involved).

I love running and playing with the other dogs here, and even though my hip’s a bit wonky, I keep up just fine. My humans say I get to have short play sessions a couple of times a week, which suits me just great! I love sniffing trees, rolling in the grass, and yes — digging in the mulch (though apparently that’s not “helpful gardening”).

I’m also quite the talker. When I settle down, I don’t just sigh — I groan loud enough for everyone to hear, just to make sure you know I’m cozy. And when I’m bored, I’ll give a dramatic groan and my best “come on, human, let’s play” look.

Food is my absolute favorite thing in the world. Treats, meals, crumbs — if it’s edible, I’m interested! You’ll never have to worry about dropped snacks with me around; I’m basically a furry vacuum cleaner. I’m learning patience at mealtimes and practicing sitting nicely before my bowl goes down (it’s hard, but I’m trying!).
