Some people call me the Big Boy, yeah. Some call me the tall cat of love. Some people call me Maurice, but I’ll fit your house just like a glove.
People talk about me baby, say my blue eyes are divine, de-vine, but don’t you worry, baby, don’t worry, cause I love to snuggle and claim the foot of the bed as mine!
Cause Im a quiet cat, I’m a chubby cat, I’m a friendly cat, and I’m a scaredy cat, I like a house that is more calm. Scratch my back’er, cut me a little slack’er, I’m a midnight snacker, I need to be the only Tom…. Cat. Okay. Enough Steve Miller Band.
My rescue name is Big Boy on account of my size, but don’t judge this book by its cover. I am playful once I’ve settled in and like to chase feathers and string, but I am not interested in pouncing on feet under the covers, much to my foster parents appreciation.
I have lived in this home since June 2025 and am starting to come out of my shell more and more each day. My owner passed away tragically and with no place to go, SCARS swooped to the rescue. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful, but a loud, barking, meowing kennel is not for me. Its too overwhelming!
Being in a new house has been intimidating, but every day I am becoming more confident. As the song above states, I’m a midnight snacker and wait until the house is quiet before making my presence known, but sometimes I’m out and about during the day too. Once the house is quiet, I will happily say hello to everyone, and even greeted a stranger at the door! She gave me excellent chin scratches but then someone moved, and I booked it back upstairs just in case. I love to help my human brother read and will venture to his room for some quiet time. Chin scritches are where it’s at and I enjoy a good snuggle and belly rub too, although I don’t get picked up too much given my size.
My 9-year-old human brother and I like to play with light up bouncy balls. He’ll toss them and I will eagerly bat them around until a shadow scares me and I run off to my closet.
I’m a pretty laid-back, easy-going guy, but likely need to be the only cat. Dogs though, well I just met one recently and she seemed okay. I gave her a warning hiss and she walked away like I didn’t exist! I supposed that was respectful, so if your house has one of those respectful dogs that will give me a chance to get to know them on my own terms, we will likely be okay. It will take me no time at all to warm up to a new family, but please be a little patient if it takes me longer than you are expecting to get comfortable in my new surroundings as much has changed for me in just a few short months.
