An update on one of these moms, Snow White, the beautiful British Shorthair. She had seven kittens but sadly one of them passed away. We also noticed a necrotic smell (something decaying) and x-rays showed some calcification in the uterus, potentially a dead fetus that got stuck in there. We need to emergency spay her and have our foster homes separately feed the kittens.

We’re seeing a surge in the number of cats and kittens arriving at our doors, pushing our resources to the absolute limit. This isn’t just a busy season; it’s a full-blown emergency including recent arrivals of one mother cat with three kittens, and another with seven!
Sadly, these are just two examples of the many cats and kittens arriving daily. The cat crisis in Alberta is real, and it’s urgent.
