This is your opportunity to help SCARS by sponsoring areas of our Athabasca Second-Chance Country Refuge facility!

The SCARS Athabasca Second-Chance Country Refuge facility houses several of our animals as they pass through our intake process on their way toward the adoption process and their new life in their “furever” home. The various areas at our facility are situated in a rural setting. We have a variety of indoor and outdoor areas and a variety of walking trails and activities to enrich their stay.
This kennel sponsorship program allows individuals to acknowledge family, friends, special occasions, promote a business, in memory of a loved one. Whatever or whoever you would like to recognize in a special way. In doing so you are supporting the needs of the many animals currently in our care!

How Sponsorship works

  • All sponsors will be recognized on a sign that will be installed and displayed in the corresponding area of sponsorship: For indoor kennels, an 11″ x 8.5″ (28 cm X 21.6 cm) sign will be created and for outdoor areas, a 17″ x 11″ (43 cm X 28 cm) sign will be created and installed. Each sign will be customized with the sponsor’s logo, personal message and/or photo which will be placed onsite on the kennel door or in the outdoor area that you have sponsored.
  • All sponsors will have their logo (or names of individuals/families/etc.) displayed on this page under the appropriate area of sponsorship.
  • Shelter sponsorship opportunities are available for either a 6-month period or 1-year period.
  • Non-business sponsors will receive a tax receipt as a thank-you for the your support. Business sponsors can write this off as advertising.
  • Note that some areas are not always visible to the public.

Maternity & Recovery Ward

The Maternity & Recovery Ward houses sick or injured animals for recovery as well as litters of puppies, pregnant dogs, and moms with pups. This is an indoor/outdoor area.

Doggy Duplex

The doggy Duplex provides two large indoor/outdoor areas. Indoors is heated & air conditioned. Outdoor area is spacious.

Room to Roam Play Area

The Room to Roam Play Area provides about 2 fenced acres for dogs that cannot be off-leash. This allows them the freedom to run and play in a spacious area.
