Meet John & Cindy! This dynamic duo have been integral to SCARS for the past 12 years. Both John and Cindy have held many different roles with SCARS. They both have had such a huge impact on our animals, volunteers and organization as a whole! We caught up with them to learn why they decided to volunteer with SCARS.

“We adopted our 2 dogs Bennie and Georgie from SCARS in the fall of September 2008, and immediately fell in love! All we could think of, was how much we wanted to help other animals like them find homes where they would be loved. By the next summer we had already signed up to help at Tails on the Trails. After that was Canines and Cocktails, and before we knew it, we were on the Calendar committee too!

Cindy says John is too modest to talk about it, but he saw a need for good quality photos to help the animals get adopted faster, so he started the “SCARS Phodography” group, of which he is still a volunteer photographer.

We live out of town, and have a long commute, so never thought we could foster, but when an impassioned plea went out in the Summer of 2018 for more foster homes, we just couldn’t say no, and started fostering kittens and cats. We have fostered over 60 kittens and cats to date and our only regret is that we waited so long to do it. We are so proud of the role we have in their new lives. There aren’t many days in the year where we aren’t doing something for SCARS, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!”

We cannot thank you enough John and Cindy for what has likely been thousands of volunteer hours that you have committed to SCARS. Your endless support and love for SCARS is incredible. We are so lucky to have you on our team. THANK YOU!
