Meet Johanna! Johanna started volunteering with SCARS just over a year ago, after she moved to Edmonton from New York. Since then she has been a HUGE asset to our volunteer team. Here is what she had to say about volunteering with SCARS:
“I attended an event that was raising money for SCARS and after researching the rescue a bit it felt like a great fit. I started out screening applications that were coming in for a few hours every week but it quickly evolved into SCARS becoming a major part of my day to day life. I now head up the application screening team, have fostered several dogs, and attend adoption events, which I hope we can start back up soon! Volunteering with SCARS has given me a strong connection to the Edmonton community and all the amazing people in it. Spending time in the animal rescue world will of course give you insight into some pretty terrible things, but the care, dedication, tenacity, and love of the people involved with an organization like SCARS far outweighs it. I’m so glad to have found SCARS and all of the people and wonderful animals that they help save every single day.”
