Today has already been a rough day in rescue. This morning one of our amazing volunteers found a cat on the side of the road who was in obvious distress and had likely been hit by a car. She rushed him to SCARS in Morinville and from there we rushed him to the vet.
After receiving pain medication, x-rays were done and we were able to see the extent of the damage. Unfortunately, he had such horrible injuries to his back legs that we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go. A decision like this is never made lightly and we feel lucky that we were able to be by his side while he passed away. While we couldn’t save this one, we were able to end his suffering in a warm and loving environment.
Unfortunately, this sweet boy did not have a microchip or tattoo so we have been unable to break this hard news to his owners. This is a very sad reminder to keep your cats indoors and please consider microchipping at your next vet visit.
