Our annual Canines & Cocktails dinner gala on November 2, 2018 at the Palace Banquet Centre in Edmonton was a great success with a sold out crowd.

Thank you to the over 450 people who attended and made this success possible. This year’s theme was “Year of the Dog” celebrating 2018 in accordance with the Chinese tradition under the lunar calendar.

  • our MC, Rob Christie, for his enthusiastic hosting of our event again this year, and to our live auctioneers Gary Hanna and Ted Power.
  • Gerry Rasmussen for doing caricatures during the event. Gerry is a cartoonist who draws the daily syndicated comic strip, Betty, which you can read in the Edmonton Journal.  Besides drawing Betty, Gerry has a passion for drawing caricatures which have appeared in newspaper, magazines and for over 35 years. Gerry also draws caricatures live at events whenever he can.” He and his wife, JoAnna, share their lives with two SCARS dogs and one SCARS cat.
  • The Canadian Ging Wu Kung Fu Martial Arts Association for providing a traditional Lion Dance
  • Rob Gray for his acoustic guitar
