Bo is a sweet young dog who found himself in a critical situation after coming in with a severely injured front paw—his bone was exposed, and sadly, it was clear that his leg couldn’t be saved.
He was rushed to the vet for an immediate examination, but due to his thin and anemic condition, he wasn’t stable enough for surgery right away. The goal that week was to treat his anemia and get him healthy enough for the operation. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, his anemia wasn’t improving, leading the vets to investigate further.
That’s when we discovered Bo also had a diaphragmatic hernia—a condition that can be fatal if left untreated. Thankfully, Bo is now in the hands of specialists at Guardian Vet, who successfully performed the challenging surgery to repair his hernia. Due to the delayed treatment, it was a more complicated procedure, but he is recovering well!
Although Bo still needs to have his front leg amputated, we’re giving him a few weeks to heal from this life-saving surgery first. At just about 3 years old, Bo has a heart full of sweetness, and while he’s not available for adoption just yet, we’ll keep you updated on his journey to recovery.
