At the heart of our Walls for Winter (W4W) program is the belief that every dog deserves a warm, dry place during our cold Alberta winters.
We had a great day on October 13, 2018 delivering pet shelters to a northern community. We like to think there is an extra ingredient that makes each shelter more than just four walls. That extra ingredient is love and it takes a community to make them happen.
SCARS volunteers arrange for the supplies needed for each shelter. The Alberta Job Corps builds them, they receive insulated floors courtesy of Details Insulation, and paint courtesy Benjamin Moore (Spruce Grove). Then SCARS’ volunteers load them onto trailers and deliver them to the community homes where they are needed.
Our W4W program is combined with our spay-neuter-return program.
An added bonus on our delivery trips is that we can also bring more pets into care.
