July 16 update… Although Tails is one of SCARS’ newest arrivals, her journey has already had a happy ending.
She came to SCARS in mid-May with two littermates and two other dogs after they had been quilled by a porcupine, earning them the nickname “The Quill Dogs.” Tails was the most severely affected, with countless quills in her face. Frightened and overwhelmed, she needed emergency veterinary care, followed by the patience and reassurance of our staff and an experienced foster home.
With the help of a confident SCARS alumni dog and a loving foster family, Tails slowly gained confidence and learned to trust. Just weeks later, she found her forever home—and the best part is that she was adopted by members of her foster family’s extended family, who had witnessed her incredible transformation firsthand.
It takes a dedicated team of staff, veterinarians, volunteers, foster families, and supporters like you to give dogs like Tails a second chance. Thank you for making stories like hers possible.
Thank you to everyone involved.
