Hello SCARS, I adopted Chauncy on 21 September 2024. When I first spoke with SCARS I was looking to adopt a buddy for my resident cat, Mr. Darcy.

I was cautioned that Chauncy was very timid and might never seek human affection. When I went to adopt him, he was so terrified he peed all over me and ended up smashing his foster family’s screen door and running away in pure terror at being held. It’s been less than a year and a half and after a lot of hiding behind the furnace and me slithering off the couch and army crawling to approach because he was scared of me only when I was higher than he was, I now have the biggest most social love bug on the planet!

Chauncy is the household social butterfly, happily snuggling with visitors and rolling over for belly rubs. If I’m on the couch chances are I’ll have him velcroed to my side in a matter of minutes. He and Mr. Darcy run and play and groom and cry for food together every day, and when I spent the past 2 months stuck at home with a broken ankle he was the best little purring companion (when he wasn’t stealing my leg elevation pillow!).

I have a MILLION photos and videos, including many of him on my broken ankle pillow, but I tried to narrow it down to a couple of the most recent.

Thank you so much for everything that you do! I would be lost without my buddy, and the transition would have been hellish without the support of his foster mum Lynn.
