This week, SCARS partnered with 16 animal welfare groups throughout Alberta to assist in the rescue of companion animals under the care of a group operating as a rescue in the province. It was a remarkable effort of solidarity in an awful situation. Our seasoned volunteers were grateful to help relieve the suffering, but shaken by the conditions of care these animals were in.

SCARS has no comment or information regarding the investigation process. Our role is to help and heal the animals we now have in our care. They need the love and compassion of the amazing SCARS community. These extra mouths to feed and spirits to heal need us so much in this moment of crisis.

If you are able, please:
  • Adopt – your forever friend is waiting
  • Foster – a safe place to land makes all the difference to a scared animal
  • Donate – funds are scarce right now for rescue organizations
  • Volunteer – join our team of compassionate helpers who make a difference every day

A huge thanks to AARCS, Canadian Animal Task Force, and all the groups involved: ARF, the Alice Sanctuary, GALS Animal Rescue,
