Oh my! What on earth! How can this even be? The SCARS volunteers who work the front lines of rescue and our very experienced veterinary partners have seen pretty much everything. Or so they thought. That was until they met me – Sprocket. Alerted to a dog with some kind of skin condition, a SCARS volunteer went out in search and found poor, bedraggled me. After getting over the immediate shock of my condition, they made the assumption of demodex mite or even the much more serious Sarcoptic mange. Nope. Fleas.
The worst case anyone had ever seen and I had them. Nasty little bitey rotten fleas. My skin is a mess and infected. I am anemic from the awful infestation, worse than anyone has even seen on wild animals. The solution they tell me is quite simple. Some kind of medicine, some time, some nice baths, some excellent meals, and apparently I will be as good as new. Can not tell you how much I am looking forward to being as good as new. Times are hard, I know, but for me, my world is forever changed. Thank you to whoever adopted a SCARS family member this weekend. You saved my life.
Thank you to whoever donated to this amazing charity. You saved my life. Thank you to every volunteer who gave their precious time. You saved my life. Please continue to support SCARS. It is a matter of life and death, for helpless animals like me.
